How to get more followers for your LinkedIn page

03/21/2022

LinkedIn is a powerful social media platform for businesses. It allows you to connect with potential customers and partners, and build your brand.

Increasing the total follower number on your company page can lead to greater organic reach, more brand awareness, improved search engine optimisation, and increased sales.

Here are a few tips on how to get more followers for your LinkedIn page.

Step One: Create a page

If you don't have one already, create a LinkedIn page for your business.

On the top right of your LinkedIn page, select the menu item called "Work" and at the bottom of the menu which pops up you will see a link to "Create a Company Page+".

Step Two: Make sure your page is complete and optimised

Make sure that your LinkedIn page is complete and up-to-date.

Include relevant information about your business, such as your website, a brief description, contact information, and logo.

Make sure that you choose the proper geographic location, especially if you're targeting a local market.

If you have a team you will want to set up permissions for the admins who are managing your company page. These team members can access and create content and drill down into the analytics for your page.

It is important that you add company hashtags to your LinkedIn page. This "tells" LinkedIn the industry and content you willl be posting about and the platform can then put your page in front of the right audience.

Step Three: Create a content plan for your Linkedin company page

Define your audience. Be very specific. Who is it that you are trying to attract for your business?

This will set the foundation for the kind of content that you will create and so its important you are clear as to who you are targeting.

Which industry do they work in, what is the company size they're working in. What is their typical role or job title, what is going on their life, what are the challenges that are facing them in their career.

Understanding who you are talking to will help you understand the types of content that you should be creating. It will also help you understand where they are spending their time online, what other companies or brands they're following and liking.

It will give you some clues as to how you might be able to reach them more effectively via the content you put on your page.

Step Four: Design content that will speak to the reality of your ideal customer persona

You want to make sure that the content you post on your LinkedIn page will help your ideal customer persona, whether that is to advance their career or improve their business.

It's about finding topics that are both entertaining and educational to them while also giving them something of value.

Step Five: Get your team involved

If you're just starting out, your company page may have minimal followers so you have to initially trigger some engagement by getting your team involved.

Invite your employees to follow your company page and ask them to share content that you've published. This is a great way to get some initial engagement and followers for your business page. This engagement from your employees will attract more relevant like-minded people to your company page.

Top tip: When someone from your team is engaging with your page content. Ask them to write a two to three sentence summary of why that piece of content is important. LinkedIn prefers posts and reshares with commentary more than just simple reshares.

In this way you get more impressions in the newsfeed and your page will grow faster.

Step Six: Get your Team to reply to comments

Have you ever sent someone a letter. A letter that you put a lot effort into, only for the recipient to ignore.

Would you send a second letter, or leave a second comment?

Probably not!

The same goes for comments on your company page. People like to be rewarded for taking the time for writing a comment. Set aside a dedicated time for responding to comments on your page posts.

As you get more comments on your posts, your posts will also show in the commentor's network and from here you will gain more followers to your company page.

Step Seven: Encourage your team to create content themselves

If you’ve been consistent with content creation and you have a team of people working for you, then ask them to help create content.

This will free up some of your time while still ensuring that there is a regular stream of new content being published on your company page.

Give them time so they can develop unique content that they can share and encourage them to also link to your company page where appropriate.

It's important that your team is writing a mix of promotional content to pitch the company products or services (20% of the content they produce) but the bulk (80% of content produced) should be interesting value posts for their networks.

You will find that more people listen to the 20% of sales and promotional content if that messaging is balanced with 80% value content.

Step Eight: Tag your company page And personal profile posts

When you or other member's of your team post content that is related to your company, make sure to tag your company page.

If someone else has linked to your company in a post, thank them for the mention and share their post on your company page.

Whenever appropriate tag your page so that people can learn more about your company and they have the opportunity to become your LinkedIn company page followers.

Step Nine: Create an industry specific Linkedin group and invite the right people into your group

Creating an industry specific LinkedIn group is a great way to get more people interested in your company page.

You will want to create a group which gives huge value to people in your specific industry.

Your role in the group is to provide value, educate and entertain as many of your ideal prospects as possible.

It is a big commitment to join a group, but if people see value they will invite other relevant people.

Over time that audience of highly qualified leads will grow organically.

Then, when you are promoting something for your business, it's much more likely that ideal prospects will see this offering.

Step Ten: Use Linkedin ads

Linkedin ads is a useful tool if you want to rapidly scale up your Linkedin company page follower growth.

You can be very specific with who you target, you can target people who live in a certain area, who work in specific industry., those who have one a particular job title etc.

By being willing to put budget behind LinkedIn ads and driving the first few hundred followers, you can make sure those people who follow your company page are ideal prospects.

These will engage with your content and have the highest probability of turning some of these into potential customers.

As we know you need 7 to 10 interactions with each and every prospect for them to feel comfortable enough to become close to becoming a buyer.

Use ads to get the ideal prospect onto the company page, create valuable posts over and over again.

Qualify the prospect, warm up the relationship until they are ready to reach out to you and become a customer.

Conclusion: LinkedIn can be a powerful tool for businesses of all sizes

By following these ten simple steps, you can create a page that followers will want to connect with and see what you have to offer.

Remember to design content that is interesting and speaks to your ideal customer persona, get your team involved in creating and responding to comments, and use LinkedIn Ads to reach more potential customers.
